Welcome to the Liskeard Community Website
Liskeard is a market town in South East Cornwall, nestling on the edge of Bodmin Moor. It represents an ideal centre for exploring east Cornwall. To the south, Looe and the coastal path is just 8 miles or 15 minutes' drive. To the east lies the city of Plymouth, just 30 minutes by car or train. To the north lies the moor, just a few miles away, or five to ten minutes’ drive. The north coast of Cornwall is about 50 minutes’ drive. To the west the famous Eden Project is about 30 minutes’ drive, and the A38 and A30 will take you on to Truro in about 50 minutes.
Liskeard itself has a population of just under 9,000. It grew from the mining industry, with Copper mines on Caradon Hill on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Today you can still see evidence of the mining legacy with old engine houses scattered over the moors.
This website contains a host of information about Liskeard church, town and community. It is run as a service to the town and community by St Martin’s Church, the Anglican Church in Liskeard.
